The month of September brought fun and festivity to Sadhana School.
Teacher's Day was celebrated with a great deal of enthusiasm, as the students and the parents expressed their appreciation and gratitude for all that their teachers do for them throughout the year. The PTA arranged for the parents to manage the students in their classes on Teacher's Day, from 10 am to 12 noon. After the morning Assembly, the students settled into their respective classes, along with the assigned parents and care-workers, where they participated in various activities and enjoyed their snacks.
Meanwhile the PTA had arranged for a fun session of games for the teachers and therapists in the Gym room. The parents brought the students to the Gym room to greet and thank the teachers and therapists, Teachers were presented handmade cards and flowers. The teachers’ viewed a movie ‘Shrikanth”. The underlying message of the Movie being INCLUSION was well received by the staff as they put forth valuable suggestions of ways in which students of the school can be integrated into society.
There was a special treat for the teachers. As a token of appreciation for all their hard work, the PTA invited them for an afternoon of relaxation at K Privé Salon. A beautiful animated invitation was sent out to each teacher, to make them feel cherished and appreciated. The Teacher's Day gift was well received by the teachers, who appreciated being pampered in this way, since sometimes they have tiring days at school. All arrangements were very well taken care of by the PTA, particularly Ms. Deepa Shaparia and Ms. Sangeeta Khandekar, who were very hardworking and gracious hosts.
The Ganesha Festival was also celebrated with enthusiasm. The children were invited for Ganeshji Darshan to the home of Ms. Riddhi Agarwal, an ex-teacher of Children's Nook. Students of the Office Procedures, Visual Arts and Crafts, and the Hospitality and Catering classes went for Darshan and bowed respectfully before Ganeshji. They were involved in some activity organised by the host and enjoyed Prasad too. In School for ABT Session the therapist Ms. Dhwani Dhupelia engaged the students to make Ganesha using paper plates. They installed the Ganesha with a lot of enthusiasm in the Principal’s office. All the students visited the Ganesha for Darshan chanting ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’. A visarjan of the Ganesha was carried out by Prevocational and Office Procedure students in school.
The school also received students of Cathedral School. 30 students of Cathedral School visited Sadhana School to interact with differently abled individuals. The visit was to sensitize the neurotypical students about the neurodivergent population The Principal, Ms. Fionika Sanghvi and the School Counsellor, Ms. Kashmira Vazifdar made a short presentation, providing information about students with special needs and about the programmes conducted by the school. In order to foster friendship and empathy, they participated in a joint session of games with students of the Vocational Classes, conducted by the Sports teacher Ms. Rajashri Ghosalkar.
The Inner Wheel Club of Gwalior, Dist. 305, in collaboration with the Inner Wheel Club of Shivaji Park Mumbai, had arranged a competition to make craft activities. This planned activity was to create awareness of different techniques that can be taught to Special Education Needs (SEN) students to develop their creativity and make items for vocational learning and independence. The video sent for this completion was about our student Kartik Goenka who was taught marble painting to eventually make gift bags. Our Special Educator Ms. Charusheela Dhotre and our Principal Ms Fionika Sanghvi worked with Kartik. The creative gift bag made with short simple and easy steps bagged the 1st Prize for the competition. A certificate of appreciation was presented to the Principal, Ms. Fionika Sanghvi by the Inner Wheel Club.
Thus the month of September ended on a note of heart-warming recognition.
