November & December 2024 Update
The months of November and December 2024 found Sadhana School engaged in a wide range of activities.

Students of SPJ Sadhana School were invited to participate in the Sports Meet for Children with Disability, organised by the Concern India Foundation. 18 Athletes with mild, moderate and severe disability participated from SPJ Sadhana School. Our students performed well, winning 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze medals and we are proud of their achievements.



Twenty-four students of SPJ Sadhana School participated in the Athletic Track and Field Events at the Sports Meet for Differently Abled Children organised by Jamnabai Narsee School at the Jamnabai Narsee Playground, Vile Parle Mumbai. Our students showed appropriate behaviour at the event, tolerance in waiting for their turn and appropriately followed commands and instructions from other coaches and volunteers on the ground. Our thanks and appreciation are due to the entire Sadhana team on the ground, for their tireless efforts, concern and care towards all our athletes in helping them to develop their potential and their abilities through the Sports Programme. Special recognition and praise is due to Ms. Rajashri Ghosalkar, our Sports teacher, for her courage in taking challenging students to participate in such events, and the belief she has shown in their abilities.



SPJ Sadhana School celebrated World Disability Day. Birla Centurion Jolie Cafe, who visited the school to spread cheer among the students, gave out goodies advocating for the cause of special needs persons. The message they presented was that all abilities deserve respect and that there are no limits, only possibilities.



The Nalanda Public School, which has had a tradition of visiting a special school as a part of their social outreach programme, made a visit to SPJ Sadhana School. The students of Nalanda Public School found it to be a very meaningful and valuable learning experience.



Ms. Falguni Mehta, the Art and Design Teacher from Fazlani L'Academie Globale, an International School located at Mazgaon, conducted "Art to Connect", a very meaningful Art Contest, where students from regular schools pair with specially abled peers to showcase their talent in art. A total of five students from Fazlani School paired with five students from Sadhana School to participate in the contest. The students Visual Arts & Crafts who participated in the contest were Adarsh Jain, Dhanashree Khandekar, Khushi Agrawal, Lokesh Mamania and Chandralekha Kandukuri. Students from both schools found this to be a very valuable creative experience that led to bonding between the students and initiating inclusion through such programmes and events.



Sadhana School is also happy to announce that our former student, Jaffer Phoolwala, won the Silver Award, as a part of the Heroes Awards 2024, from K Hospitality, where he is employed. The award states that K Hospitality values "the extraordinary display of OTP which helped the organization in its resolve to win through quality". The school is truly proud of this achievement.



Four of our students, Adarsh Jain, Atharva Singh, Gaurav Agrawal and Khushi Agrawal, participated in the AIMS Media CQ (Creative Quotient) Assessments, which were conducted in December. This is an assessment process based on multimedia tools to measure a person's ability and creativity. It is designed by a team of professionals keeping in mind differences in age, abilities and difficulties. The purpose of this assessment is to identify the student's eligibility for AIMS Media Education Services. It has a set of specific measurable factors such as Motor Skills, Cognitive Skills, Artistic Sense and Social Communication.



A very important event each year at Sadhana School is the Annual Exhibition and Sale held in December, showcasing the vocational training of the students. This year, the event commemorated the first-year milestone in the learning of vocational courses offered here. For visitors, it was a festive time, as they sampled the wide range of products prepared by students of various Departments, and appreciated the valuable and rigorous training imbibed by the students.

As usual, this year too, the Exhibition was a grand success as the result of all the meticulous planning and hard work that went into the preparations. The dress code being Christmas colours, the atmosphere was bright and cheerful and vibrant. In keeping with the Christmas theme, the slogan for the exhibition was: "Christmas is about doing a little extra for someone". The Inauguration Ceremony began with a Welcome Speech by the Principal, Ms. Fionika Sanghvi, who warmly thanked the Chief Guests Mr. Kailas Rajani, President, Rotary Club of Bombay Peninsula, as well as Mr. Harsh and Mrs. Jayshree Chandan from the Rotary Club for having lived up to this Christmas message with their generous donation and sponsorship of the exhibition. Gratitude and floral recognition were offered to Sr Pratibha, the Coordinators, teachers, therapists, volunteers, administrative team and care workers. Ms. Sanghvi then invited the visitors to explore the exhibition, saying that for the visitors, it was an open door that welcomed them, making friends from strangers.



The School Magazine, Sadhana Times was formally released by the Chief Guest, and was greatly appreciated by all.

The Exhibition was presented over three floors of the school. The 5th Floor was the Shopping Zone, with products made by the students, a billing counter and a delivery counter. In the Gym Room, there was a display where pictures of students of the Vocational Department.

The 4th Floor, presented a Puppet Show, Recreational Games, Sensory Games as well as a DIY Section, all of which provided entertainment to the visitors and also showcased the training provided to the students.

The 3rd Floor was the Food Zone which showcased a range of delicious items, beautifully prepared and packaged by the students.

The Exhibition saw brisk sales of all the products and drew great appreciation and admiration from the visitors.

After all the hard work for the exhibition, it was time for fun! The month ended with a series of fun-filled activities to celebrate Christmas week. Each class spent time explaining and internalising the Christmas slogan that was used for the exhibition, "Christmas is about doing something extra for someone". Each class explored this slogan through story, song, drama or any other modality. Each class also used their skills and training to make Christmas decorations for the Christmas tree. The hand-prints and footprints of the students were used to create the Christmas decorations. The students themselves greatly enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree with their artwork.



As a part of the Christmas Week Celebrations, the PTA organised an outing to the Paradox Museum, at Fort Mumbai. The Paradox Museums a world of illusion which makes blends illusion and reality in creative ways. It is an illusion park where paradoxes redefine reality, for instance in the Reversed Room, where everything is upside down. This was a truly unique experience, the students and staff members had a wonderful time at this outing. Thus the hard work of the last two months culminated in well-deserved enjoyment!
