UPDATES FOR JUNE 2018
CEREMONIES & CELEBRATIONS:
On 19th June S P J Sadhana School facilitated Sr. Anila Verghese on her appointment as Provincial of the Sacred Heart Society in India.
World Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2018 with a short enactment of Yoga conducted during 'A Walk In The Woods'. The staff were enthusiastic about the dramatic interplay. It was a time of "Yoga" fun and frolic.
26th June 2018 was a day of great excitement for the school.
The "Chakra Baby" was formally "adopted". The Elephant foundation art work "Chakra Baby" was conceptualized and created by Ms. Mehr Jessia Rampal and Mr. Mozez Singh. The sculpture was donated by the Elephant Family, London, to SPJ Sadhana in appreciation of the student's participation in the "save the elephant" campaign. The students had executed exceptionally inspired drawings which impressed the philanthropists into donating the elephant. The Chakra Baby has also become a symbol of the school's holistic philosophy of education. The school celebrated the inauguration with an energetic dance performance by the students in honour of Lord Ganesha – the giver of Knowledge and Prosperity.
29th June 2018 Sr Gaitonde's birthday (Ex-Principal of SPJ Sadhana School) was celebrated with joy by
staff and students.
EXTERNAL EVENTS:
The Teachers of the Sri Sathya Sai Organization held their "Spiritual Camp" in the month of May, in S.P.J. Sadhana School. They were extremely appreciative of "The Love and Support" given to them by the Principal and Administrator for their venture.
INTERNSHIPS:
Three students of the Hospitality & Catering Department, Kimberly Nunes, Anurag Jhulan and Salwa
Navrange have secured internships at the prestigious Courtyard Marriott Mumbai Hotel, in the month of
June.
OUTREACH:
On 13th June, 35 Nursing Students from K J Somaiya School of Nursing visited the school for Orientation.
STAFF INTERACTION:
The Staff interaction took place on
7& 8 June 2018. The specific area of attention this year will be Communication and this was emphasized by Role Play of several modalities of Communication, by the Staff. Several workshops were also held for their benefit.
Ms. Veena Basu Founder, Director of BVerve was invited by SPJ Sadhana School to give a talk on "The Reading Programme" on 29th June 2018. Ms. Basu has a Masters in Special Education for the Syracuse University, USA. She has authored special books for students with learning disabilities and has actively conducted training for the last 25 years. Ms. Veena Basu spoke on the different stages in acquiring the students with language and reading through Phonetics and Sight Reading. The talk was extremely educative and an eye-opener for all.
SPORTS:
From 18th to 25th June 2018 Aparmita Singh from the Visual Arts & Craft department and the Sports
Teacher Rajashri Ghosalkar attended the Coaching and Training Programme of the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2019 at BITS Pilani, organized by Special Olympics Bharat, for swimming and athletics.
WORKSHOPS:
19th to 26th June was Parent orientation. The Parents of the Formative Years, Intermediate School and Vocational Courses were invited to respective classes to work with the students after an orientation by the Principal and Co-ordinators. This was to foster better understanding of the methodology followed in school by the teachers, in order to help parents in tutoring their children.
