Updates for January 2020
EVOLVING
The SPJ Sadhana biennial Sports Meet was celebrated on 16th January 2020. The Meet is a perennial favourite with the students and staff alike, conducted in a spirit of fun and healthy, friendly competition. As always, the Meet drew on the natural aptitude and acquired skills of all students, surpassing former boundaries and raising the bar a few notches higher. A stirring march past and flag hoisting set the mood for some serious athletics, cheered on by racing white clouds, clean blue skies, and bracing breeze, all on the shores of an iridescent Indian Ocean, at Priyadarshini Park. Morning Blues abstain from teacher and student while one and all send fervent thanks to whichever benevolent deity commandeered the cloud covered skies.

Across the tracks vociferous voices echo. Then, a sudden hush broken by running feet and wave upon wave of cheering follows the runners to the finish line, a moment’s lull and the victor rides high while exuberant parents and friends claim his place in the sun. Track races, relays, obstacles races, the final moment breathes joy. Medals, cups, trophies follow but nothing expresses the pure happiness of breaking through the ribbon, victorious; pure happiness transforms faces – student, parent, teacher alike. This day, in this peaceful corner of the buzzing metropolis, Sadhana celebrates its own arena of Olympian sprints, cyclothons, its own freestyle swimming. On the stands, spectators proclaim their moments of exultance with elation on their glowing faces – one wonders at that single instance; whether school sports or international meet, that one moment of triumph binds all.
